Diploma in Information Technology

The Diploma in Information Technology aims to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform effectively in the corporate arena. This qualification was developed in partnership with industry to meet their needs and produce employable students with relevant skills in the field of IT. Information Technology is an integral part of any successful organisation, since operational excellence depends wholly on IT products or services. This qualification also equips students with necessary programming skills with network components and information systems, tailored to develop their practical abilities to succeed. This Diploma equips the student with base line knowledge to function effectively in the IT environment. On successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to seek positions in the field of Information Technology which encompasses all areas of Technology.

Duration

The programme duration is 3 years on a full-time basis, or 4 years on a part-time basis.

Certification

On successful completion of the programme, you will receive an ICESA Diploma in Information Technology.

Admission Requirements

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Diploma endorsement, or
• A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with Diploma endorsement, or
• Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with Diploma endorsement, or
• A Senior Certificate (SC); or
• Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for Diploma study as gazetted by the Matriculation Board (Equivalency evaluation is completed with the Matriculation Board)

Alternative admission requirements

• Senate discretionary admission
• Mature Age (45 years of age and above): Conditions apply
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Additional requirements

• Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and English at NQF level 4 or equivalent
• Foreign applicants whose first language is not English, may be required to provide proof of proficiency in English prior to admission to the programme

ICESA may require appropriate combinations of subjects and levels of achievement for certain qualifications.
